Maison Margiela S/S 24
In order to enhance my CLO3D skills after graduating, I took 6 months to teach myself Unreal Engine, DAZ 3D, Mixamo, and Blender. With these new skills, I was able to create not only the digital garment, but also the avatar, background, and detailed walk cycle. This piece was then featured in Maison Margiela’s Film NightHawk for Paris Fashion Week.
With these skills, I took the runway from Maison Margiela’s 2024 Artisan Collection, and recreated Gwendoline Christie’s iconic doll look. This piece took over 2 months to perfect.
The Walk Simulation
I started by making a DAZ 3D model that could imitate the corset shape of the body. Then I create the flat pattern on CLO3D based on the avatar, while testing walk cycles with different fabrics. Once I found a fabric that best suited the lay of the garment, I recorded the rendering of the walk cycle. The next step was to bring the walk simulation into Unreal Engine.
Unreal Engine
After confirming the walk cycle of the avatar doesnt interfere with the fabric, I took the avatar to UE with the CLO3d Livsync add on. From there I created a church background, effects, fog, and lighting. The recording of the avatar walk cycle and background was also created in UE.
